Beowulf Newsletter VI

Leadership Transition and Project Overview
As many of you may already know, JGreenriver has stepped down as CEO of the Beowulf Foundation. I am honored to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. JGreenriver, the founder of Beowulf, established the vision that has carried us through five years of growth and accomplishment. Under his leadership, we achieved milestones that laid the foundation for everything we are building today.
It is also important to acknowledge Black Horse, who served as CEO for over a year during our formal launch. His leadership helped establish Beowulf’s early impact and gave us the stability to grow into the organization we are today. We owe him our gratitude for guiding us through that critical stage.
JGreenriver has personally prepared me to assume this role so that he may move on to new endeavors, which will be announced in due course.
For the immediate future, Beowulf will continue in the direction established under JGreenriver, with some refinements and adjustments as we pursue our next stage of growth. This transition is also an opportunity to provide an overview of our current initiatives and progress.
Scyldings
Scyldings predates the formal creation of Beowulf and remains one of our most enduring projects. This year marks its most active calendar yet, with two highly successful events already completed: the inaugural Karlstage in Germany and the recent Witan in England. In September, we will host the First Fleet Forum in Australia, our first event on that continent.
Beyond organizing events, Scyldings has developed a support staff capable of assisting others in setting up their own gatherings. This service is one of Beowulf’s unique offerings. For inquiries, contact maven@scyldings.com
Tickets for upcoming events are available at https://scyldings.com/
Basketweaving
Basketweaving, another project that began before Beowulf’s formal founding, has grown to over 2,600 members across multiple platforms. Recently, the project was targeted by activists, yet the response only strengthened our community. Membership increased, engagement rose, and more people are out weaving than ever before.
While we expect further opposition, we are actively implementing strategies to safeguard Basketweaving against future disruption. You can join the community at https://basketweavers.net/
Wylfings
Launched in March, Wylfings serves as Beowulf’s publishing arm, bringing neglected works back into circulation while promoting new authors and partners. Wylfings now publishes Scyldings’ event books and has released or is preparing titles including:
- Works by Major General Richard Hilton
- Antipolitics by John Sweeny & Evelyn Grant
- What is Mafia? by Gaetano Mosca (our first translated work)
Wylfings will continue expanding its catalogue with original, republished, and translated works. For publishing proposals, contact contact@wylfings.com
Hjallr
Hjallr is our custom-built deployment system for websites and applications. Although still in development, it already hosts all Beowulf platforms as well as services for external clients. Hjallr was designed to be anti-fragile, ensuring that activist pressure cannot compromise hosted projects.
Services will soon be available for direct order at hjallr.com. Until then, inquiries may be directed to admin@hjallr.com
Brondings
Brondings is Beowulf’s initiative for secure financial services and applications. Development has been underway for some time, and the project is now entering an exciting new phase. At present, Brondings facilitates bitcoin and fiat transactions. The framework is now in place to support a wide range of financial tools designed for parallel economies.
Some applications will serve allied organizations, while others will be offered to a broader public. We expect to launch the first of these before year-end, with continued development well into the future.
Digital Art Exhibition
The Digital Art Exhibition is being built in Unreal Engine 5. The launch date has not yet been announced, but once completed it will serve as a reusable platform for hosting exhibitions in diverse environments. The exhibition will connect to a sales platform where featured works can be purchased.
This initiative will highlight visionary artists and provide them with new opportunities for patronage. Artists interested in participating may contact us directly via my contact information below.
Web Development and Tutoring
To support Beowulf’s projects, we have built a team of front-end and back-end developers. A common arrangement is to design and deploy client websites hosted securely on Hjallr. In the future, these sites will integrate with Brondings for reliable and secure e-commerce solutions.
We have also invested in training new developers. Instruction begins with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, later advancing to frameworks like React and Next.js.

Our Communities
In addition to the projects outlined above, Beowulf also manages several active communities tailored to different audiences. Our general chat room, Helheim, is accessible through our Matrix server and serves as our general chatroom. For those interested in business and enterprise, we host The Merchant Guild, a community dedicated to aspiring entrepreneurs. For technically minded members, we maintain Smidir on Discord, a space for collaboration and exchange among developers and technologists.

Conclusion
Beowulf exists to build the infrastructure necessary for effective organization. Every project we develop is a tool designed to strengthen communities, increase efficiency, and empower aligned groups to thrive.
Our work is entirely independent. We receive no institutional support; every achievement has been made possible through volunteer commitment and sound organizational principles. Donations are primarily invested in maintaining operations and funding new initiatives. Contributors who bring valuable skills and effort to projects receive a stake in their success, ensuring shared ownership and responsibility.
Beowulf demonstrates that with committed people and effective leadership, ambitious projects can succeed without reliance on external powers.
Volunteering
All of the projects listed here are actively seeking skilled volunteers, as well as many that have not yet been publicly announced. Whether your expertise is technical, creative, organizational, or financial, there is a place for you within Beowulf. With these dark events happening all around us, now is the time for us to come together in earnest and work for a better future.
